Collings, Keturah - portrait of a man

This miniature portrait is signed "Keturah Collings". Keturah Collings (1862-?) was the wife of Arthur Albert Collings (1859-?).

Before her marriage her name was Keturah Anne Beedle.

Both Arthur and Keturah were miniature painters and photographers and had many notable clients, including members of royalty, such as the King and Queen of Belgium. For a comprehensive biography of them, see Arthur Albert Esme Collings and

Arthur later used the name A Esme Collings. However, neither Arthur nor Keturah are recorded in Blattel.

The sitter is unknown. 748

Hello - Thank you for this information on the artist. I have two portrait miniatures by Keturah Collings in my collection - both of women. I also have one signed by F. Hannam of an older, wealthy-looking woman. When you tilt this portrait a certain way, you can also see the name Esme Collings written in pencil at the bottom of the painting. Would this most likely be the sitter, or would there be some sort of connection with Keturah's husband?

OK

I am sorry, I cannot tell from your limited description, I suggest you compare it with the portraits at http://www.photohistory-sussex.co.uk/BTNCollingsAE&K.htm
and try and match the painting styles to pick who it is by.
The person who operates that website may have, or know of, portraits of them.

My mother had four miniatures signed by Keturah Collings of us her children.
They were stolen from her flat in Highgate in the 1980s and I wonder if they have turned up anywhere.
